Community Spirit Thrives at
Kim Tian West’s Rooftop Garden

At Kim Tian West, the Giving Garden has become more than just a rooftop green space — it’s a symbol of community and sustainable living. Spearheaded by Community in Bloom ambassador Felicia Tan, the garden brings residents together through a shared passion for nature and giving. Home to over 10 types of vegetables including kai lan, kang kong, and Brazilian spinach, the garden thrives under collective care. Felicia also leads creative initiatives like eco-printing workshops, where participants use homegrown flowers to make wearable art — blending horticulture with hands-on creativity.

Sustainability plays a key role in the garden’s success. About 50% of soil amendments come from traditional composting using food waste donated by residents. “Residents give us their food waste, and we give them vegetables in return,” says Felicia. “It’s a culture of giving.” For Felicia, the Giving Garden represents more than a place to grow plants — it’s a space where neighbours connect, learn, and find joy. “It’s a reminder that anyone can grow their own piece of happiness,” she adds.
